This year marks the tenth anniversary of the European Research Council (ERC). In these ten years, Euskadi has obtained a total of 30 million euros of investment distributed in 23 ERC Grants, of which 14 have been obtained by Ikerbasque researchers.
The European Research Council (ERC) promotes excellent basic science in Europe by supporting the best researchers from all fields and from all nationalities who wish to continue their research at the frontiers of knowledge. The ERC finances prestigious projects that seek to develop novel and high risk research. Since its inception, the ERC has had a considerable impact on the European research landscape.
Among the 14 ERC Grants awarded to Ikerbasque researchers are the projects intended to have applications in electronics, photonics, energy conversion and storage, a project that seeks to design a biosensor for the study of the communication of bacteria between themselves and with other cell colonies or an investigation aimed at understanding how nutrition can determine the behavior of prostate cancer.
