The Department of Education, Universities and Research of the Basque Government and Ikerbasque promoted the creation of a world-class interdisciplinary research center on Cognition, Brain and Language BCBL:
The research is focused in:
- Language acquisition, representation and processing
- Computer modelling of language processing
- Language disorders, Learning disorders, and neurodegeneration of language processing
- Sociolinguistics, cultural norms, context of language use, social variables
- Formal studies of the Basque language (euskara)
- Advanced methods for cognitive neuroscience
The centre started its operations in 2009 in San Sebastian.
