CIC marGUNE

CIC marGUNE

The objectives of the CRC marGUNE can be identified as follows:

  • To establish itself as a national and international point of scientific-technological reference in high performance manufacturing.
  • To provide a high level of training to researchers in order to shorten the learning cycles by capturing knowledge in all technologies considered at marGUNE.
  • To transfer the acquired knowledge to the industrial fabric, thereby assisting the industrial framework to recover from its progressive loss of competitiveness, with a strategy of technological differentiation. In this regard, the activity of the CRC marGUNE will be aligned with business strategies, thereby favouring the integration of the science-technology-industry value chain. Moreover, it collaborates in the repositioning of firms as a result of understanding their future plans, and it assists them by contributing knowledge and technology in order to develop new products and solutions that allow them to be more successful.
  • To set itself up as a tool that serves not only to establish the scientific bases that generate a new industrial fabric, but also to assist in evolving and transforming the businesses of the companies that comprise the current fabric of suppliers of manufacturing solutions.

The projects of the CRC marGUNE are framed within short- to medium-term scientific-technological scopes, which are keys to maintaining the industrial mass of the environment. It is therefore necessary to support the industrial R&D capacity that the sector itself is generating with a research infrastructure of a high scientific-technological level and of a more basic nature that feeds and facilitates this radical innovation, thereby driving change from a strategy of reactive innovation (follower) to a proactive one.

Within the actions encompassed by the research frameworks, the projects in progress are the following:

  • Effect of the Manufacturing Process on generating Residual Stress and structural modifications of the material. Relaxation Technologies.
  • Assurance of Geometric and Surface Quality when Machining Precision Parts.
  • New Concepts for Manufacturing High-Performance, Light-Weight components for car bodies, structures and suspensions of new generation automobiles.
  • Integration of the Value Chain of Metal Cutting Processes.
  • Ultrasound assisted machining. Applications.
  • Study of material deposition Processes based on mixed technologies
