Inbiomed is a non-profit research foundation dedicated to translational stem cell research and regenerative medicine. It is located at the Technology Park of San Sebastian nearby local hospitals what ensures a strong interaction with the clinic.
Inbiomed’s main goal is to advance in the knowledge of stem cell biology that can be translated into the clinic by developing cell based therapeutic approaches. Research is organized into four scientific programs, three of them focusing on prevalent diseases in the current world (Parkinson’s disease, Heart diseases and rare diseases) than can benefit from regenerative medicine, and a fourth transversal program (neoplasic transformation) oriented towards biosafety and proliferative diseases. On establishing these research programs, recruitment of internationally trained scientists and state of the art facilities Inbiomed has successfully established itself as a research center in the adult stem cell field.
Besides strong research activity Inbiomed has developed an advanced technological platform in cell therapy with the set up of Inbiobank , the first adult stem cell bank in Europe operating under GMPs; and Inbiopharma, a pharmaceutical laboratory for clinical cell product manufacturing under GMPs certified by the spanish medicine agency (AME).
Inbiomed is undergoing an expansion process that, with the strong commitment of all the people that make Inbiomed, deep involvement of the clinical environment and convinced support from local agencies, will culminate with the consolidation of Inbiomed as a reference center in regenerative medicine. This will certainly place San Sebastian as a reference pole in the emerging field of regenerative medicine.
