Visiting Professors

Summary

The Ikerbasque Visiting Professors Call will be open from 1 September 2012 to 31 October 2012.

Candidates must be presently researching in a relevant institution outside the Basque Country. These fellowships have a duration of 12 months, starting anytime in 2013 (shorter Fellowhips down to 6 months can excepcionally be considered). The fellowship grant will depend mainly on the research track of the candidate and interest of the research project presented. This call is co-funded under the Marie Curie Program of the European Union.

Objective

These Fellowships support the temporary incorporation of outstanding researchers to the Research Groups at the Basque Universities and Research Centres. The aim of the initiative is to promote knowledge transfer and to strengthen international research networks.

Amount and Duration of the Fellowships

Ikerbasque will offer temporary fellowships (6 to 12 months) to the selected applicants. The Visiting Professors will develop their research project within the investigation lines of the host Basque Research Group/Institution. This call is suitable for researchers on sabbaticals.

The gross income of each Fellow will vary depending on:

  • The research track and experience of the candidate
  • The length of the stay
  • The interest of the research project for the host Research Group

Who can apply?

The Fellowships require a joint application from a Research Group from one of the Universities or the Research Centres of the Basque Science System (RVCTI), and an experienced researcher (PhD completed at least 4 years before the current call date). Applications from female researchers are warmly welcomed.

Research Groups at the Basque Universities can present only one application per group and the rest of the research institutions of the Basque Network of Science, Technology and Innovation can only present one application per institution.

Procedure

Applications must be presented in English. Both the Research Group and the Candidate Researcher must agree and complete the following documentation.

Application period

The application period is from 1 September 2012 to 31 October 2012.

Evaluation Committee and Criteria

An Evaluation Committee will review the applications and after this process Ikerbasque will inform before the end of 2011 about the results of the selection process.

The evaluation criteria will be:

  • Interest and potential of the research project
  • Fellow candidate profile and experience
  • Research Group track and excellence level
