Ikerbasque. Basque Foundation for Science

Ikerbasque offers 12 months fellowship to researchers currently investigating in a relevant institution outside the Basque Country who would like to come to the Basque Country for a research stay. These fellowships have a duration of 12 months, starting anytime in 2013. This call is co-funded under the Marie Curie Program of the European Union.

Objective

These Fellowships support the temporary incorporation of outstanding researchers to the Research Groups at the Basque Universities and Research Centres. The aim of the initiative is to promote knowledge transfer and to strengthen international research networks.

Amount and Duration of the Fellowships

Ikerbasque offers 12 months fellowships to the selected applicants. The Visiting Professors will develop their research project within the investigation lines of the host Basque Research Group/Institution. This call is suitable for researchers on sabbaticals.

The gross income of each Fellowship is set based on the research track and experience of the candidate.

Who can apply?

The Fellowships require a joint application from:

• a Research Group from one of the Universities or the Research Centres of the Basque Science System (RVCTI)
• and an experienced researcher (PhD completed at least 4 years before the call date) currently researching in an institution outside the Basque Country. Applications from female researchers are warmly welcomed.

Research Groups at the Basque Universities can present only one application per group and the rest of the research institutions of the Basque Network of Science, Technology and Innovation can only present one application per institution.

How to apply

Applications must be presented in English. Both the Research Group and the Candidate Researcher must agree and complete the following documentation.

• [02] Activity Record Summary (Last 5 years) of the Research Group (Accepted formats: ODT, PDF, RTF and DOC)

All these three documents must be sent via e-mail by the Basque Research Group to: fellowships@ikerbasque.net. The application period is from September 1 to October 31. Visiting Professors 2012 call is currently closed and under evaluation.

Evaluation Committee and Criteria

An Evaluation Committee will review the applications and after this process Ikerbasque will inform before the end of 2012 about the results of the selection process.

The evaluation criteria will be:

• Interest and potential of the research project
• Fellow candidate profile and experience
• Research Group track and excellence level
