Principal Investigator to lead the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis program of the Brain Lab

Biobizkaia Health Research Institute in Bilbao (Basque Country, Spain) together with Ikerbasque Foundation for Science (http://www. Ikerbasque.net) invite applications for an immediately available Principal Investigator to lead the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis program of the Brain Lab at the Institute. Candidates must hold a PhD degree, I3 Certification, International post-doctoral experience in the area of neurosciences and Leadership accreditation in projects and publications.

The successful candidate is expected to establish and consolidate an independent line of research into molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis with a translational focus, obtaining competitive funds and collaborating with local, national and international groups. The investigator will participate in the scientific activities of the IIS, the supervision of technicians and personnel in training and contribute actively to promote scientific excellence.

Biobizkaia, is a scientific structure conceived as a cornerstone of the Basque Government’s strategy to consolidate the Biomedical Sector in in the province of Biscay in the Basque Country (1 million of population), seeking to improve the health and life expectancy of the population. Improving health innovation and research with a clear translational research vision, is the main focus of the institutions that are part of Biobizkaia, namely, the Basque Department of Health, the Basque Health Service (Osakidetza), the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), the Basque Foundation for Health Research and Innovation (BIOEF) and the BBK Banking Foundation, together forming the largest health research institute in the Basque Country. Biobizkaia is a Health Research Institute accredited beyond the model of the Carlos III, the National Health Institute.

Ikerbasque is the Basque Foundation for Science created by the Basque Government to reinforce the Basque scientific system by recruiting the best researchers from all around the world. Currently more than 300 researchers from more than 30 different countries in all fields of knowledge for the Ikerbasque research community.
