Previous research experience in optical industry at Carl Zeiss (Germany) for EUV lithography, synchrotron & space optics, x-ray metrology and as group leader at the University of Freiburg (Germany) in micro-optics, biomedical microsystems, cardiovascular monitoring.

Doctor in Physics (1997) from University of Freiburg, Germany.
