Cellulose-based magnetoelectric composites

A new paper co-authored by Ikerbasque researcher Senentxu Lanceros successfully demonstrates the concept of exploring piezoelectric biopolymers in magnetoelectric composites, particularly cellulose, which is increasingly employed as a renewable, low-cost, easily processable and degradable material.

Thus, it represents a progress in the development of a new generation of magnetoelectric materials that have shown potential for a wide range of applications in the areas or sensors and actuators, energy harvesting and tissue engineering. The results have been published in Nature Communications.
