Currently works at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) as Distinguished Professor.
Research line: 
Biomaterials, Stem Cell Technology, Bioprinting, Tissue Engineering and NanoMedicine.
ASEM-DUO Fellowship (South Korea), High-End Foreign Experts/Talents Plan (China), Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), NRC Fellowship (National Academies, USA), SMF Fellowship (Singapore), CSIR Fellowship (India).
Prior to joining at the IKERBASQUE and UPV/EHU, he held several academic positions at various institutions including Professor at the Dankook University (South Korea), Associate Professor at the University of Strasbourg (France), Assistant Professor at the WPI-AIMR (Japan), Adjunct Professor at the Tohoku University (Japan), High-end Foreign Expert at the Chengdu University (China), NRC Associate at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST, USA), National Institutes of Health (NIH, USA), and SMF Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore (Singapore). He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Biomedical Nanotechnology.
Ph.D. in Biomaterials from CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute, University of Madras, India.
