Group Leader of the Laboratory of Local Translation in Neurons and Glia at Achucarro - Basque Center for Neuroscience.
Research line: 
1) To decipher the contribution of glial cells to local protein synthesis in neurons through horizontal transfer of extracellular vesicles in physiological and pathological conditions, and 2) To unravel the role of local protein synthesis in glia in the healthy and the diseased brain.
Pilot Grant Award from the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at Columbia University (2013). Columbia University nominee for the Blavatnik Regional Awards for Young Scientists (2015).
Previous research experience in Developmental Neurobiology at Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas-CSIC (Madrid, Spain). Six years working on mRNA localization and local translation in axons in the field of Alzheimer’s research at Columbia University Medical Center (New York, USA).
Doctor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2008) from Universidad Complutense, Madrid, Spain.
