Ultrafast electronic response of graphene to a strong and localized electric field

Ultrafast electronic response of graphene to a strong and localized electric field

An international study co-led by researchers from CFM-Materials Physics Centre (CSIC-UPV/EHU)  and DIPC-Donostia International Physics Centre reports on the ability of freestanding single layer graphene to provide tens of electrons for charge neutralization of a slow highly charged ion within a few femtoseconds.

The exceptionally high carrier mobility makes graphene a promising material for future electronic applications. Andrey K.  Kazanksy, Ikerbasque Research Professor, is one of the authors of this study, published in the journal Nature Communications.
